This rug displays a natural light and dark side depending on the viewing angle, due to the direction of the pile (nap) and how it reflects light—a common characteristic of hand-knotted rugs. In this case, the difference is quite pronounced, with the rug appearing more tan from one direction and more cream from the other. Additionally, there is some color fading in spots.
