Description
This 27-volume set of The Works of Rudyard Kipling was published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1926 and is bound in the original brown cloth with elegant gilt details on the spines. The set features a comprehensive collection of Kipling’s novels, short stories, and poetry, showcasing his literary contributions in a timeless and cohesive design. Each volume reflects the high-quality craftsmanship of this iconic publication.
Disclaimer: These books originally included the swastika, a Hindu symbol of good luck, as part of Kipling’s bindings, inspired by his knowledge of Indian culture. However, in 1933, Kipling ordered the symbol to be removed from his works after the Nazis adopted it as their emblem. Kipling, strongly opposed to Nazi ideology, described the symbol as “defiled beyond redemption” and ensured it would no longer appear on his books.
